Some months ago, one of my little cousins saw in my book collection the colorful cover of It, and somehow he thought it would be a great idea to read it. Of course, having read that book myself just a few weeks before, I warned him that it was NOT a children’s book, just like any of Stephen King’s books I have read so far.

In the tall grass is another very good example that Stephen King does not write stories to be read before sleep, much less if he writes in the company of his son Joe Hill, who has much less scruples when filling a blank sheet with scary stories.

And although Netflix – by the hand of director Vincenzo Natali – made some key changes to the plot to make the film less – say – uncomfortable than the original material, it is still quite terrifying, and yes, kind of confusing as well. Brightburn | Explained

What would happen if Kal-El, Krypton’s last son, instead of growing up to become a legendary superhero, had become a sadistic megalomaniac killer?That’s the question director David Yarovesky used as a reference for his first feature film in Hollywood, by the hand of producer James Gunn known for his directorial work in Guardians of the Galaxy. The name of the movie? Kind of interesting, Brightburn .

But Brightburn is far from the narrative tone of a superhero movie, exhibiting a darker tone of suspense, terror and tragedy, kind of similar to Brian de Palma’s Carrie, in 1976.

Now, if this narrative style left you with one or another question, or one or two questions, do not worry, because now we will analyze this movie deeply.

The Silence | Netflix Movie | Explained

The Curse of La Llorona | Explained

What would you do if one night what you thought was just a character in a story to scare children is watching you from the other end of your bed? That question -we as adults sometimes think about, specially when we are home alone – is the question American director Michael Chaves uses as the backbone for his star leap from editor and special effects artist, to director on the sixth feature film in The Conjuring Universe (TCU). The name of the movie? The Curse of La Llorona, a nod to the latino heritage starring one of the most famous ghosts in the folklore south of the Rio Grande.
